An evening dedicated to the commemoration of millions of victims of the Holodomor of 1932-33 in Ukraine
An evening dedicated to the commemoration of millions of victims of the Holodomor of 1932-33 in Ukraine took place on 30th November 2017 in Tel-Aviv.
Representatives of the community of Ukrainians in Israel, representatives of the local civil-society, experts, historians, representatives of the media and the diplomatic corps in Israel attended the event.
The Ambassador of Ukraine to the State of Israel Hennadii Nadolenko thanked the guests of the evening for their empathy to this great tragedy with the Ukrainian people. “For each Ukrainian, this period in the history of our country is shrouded with sadness and washed with tears. It is hard to find words to convey the human pain from this terrible calamity”, - stressed H.Nadolenko.
The movie “Bitter Harvest”, dedicated to one of the most tragic chapters of European history of the 20th century, was demonstrated within the framework of the evening.
Currently, the Holodomor of 1932-33 is recognized as an act of genocide against the Ukrainian people in 14 countries - Estonia, Australia, Canada, Hungary, Lithuania, Georgia, Poland, Peru, Paraguay, Ecuador, Colombia, Mexico, Latvia, Portugal. The European Parliament recognized Holodomor as a crime against the Ukrainian people and against humanity in its resolution of 23 October 2008.
