Ukrainian MFA held first in history bilateral inter-agency dialogue on strengthening cooperation in cyber security with the Federal Republic of Germany
30 November 2017 Ukrainian MFA held first in history bilateral inter-agency dialogue on strengthening cooperation in cyber security with the Federal Republic of Germany under the presidency of State Secretary Andriy Zayats and Director-General for International Security Serhii Shutenko. German Ambassador to Ukraine H.E.Mr. Ernst Reichel has also attended an opening ceremony.
German inter-agency delegation included representatives of the Federal Foreign Office, Ministry of Defense, Criminal Police and National Intelligence Service. Experts familiarized Ukrainian colleagues with Germany’s achievements in monitoring and neutralizing threats of the cyber origin, as well as with country’s national cyber security strategy.
Ukrainian inter-agency team included delegates from the Security Service, National Security and defense Council Apparatus, Ministry of Information Policy, Foreign Intelligence, National Bank, State Service for Financial Monitoring and State Service for Special Communication and Information Protection.
Parties discussed major contemporary trends in cyber space protection, essential tendencies to neutralize global cyber threats and possible perspective fields of future bilateral interaction in this sphere.
Ukrainian experts acquainted German colleagues with certain aspects of large-scaled 2015-2017 cyber-attacks over electronic and governmental resources, guided and financed by Russian Federation.
It was particularly emphasized that cyber terrorism and targeted intense malware dissemination became one of essential pillars of Russia-lead “hybrid war” against our country.
Among other issues that have been separately discussed during the meeting – Ukraine-Germany cooperation to strengthen safe international Internet space on the platforms of NATO, OSCE and the UN, as well as cyber security within defense and financial State sectors.
