President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko met President of the Ukrainian World Congress Eugene Czolij and President of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress Paul Grod
The Head of the State: The new government is willing to have a constructive cooperation with the Ukrainian expat community and a qualitatively new level of relations between the Ukrainian state and its people.
“With the new countdown, the new government is willing to substantively change its relations with the Ukrainian expat community,” the Head of State emphasized at the beginning of the meeting.
He noted that the development of relations with the Ukrainian expat community requires bringing them to a qualitatively new level. “Attitude towards Ukrainians abroad will make them feel that the state considers them as partners in achieving common goals and needs their attention. Today, we count on a fruitful and constructive cooperation,” Petro Poroshenko claimed.
In his turn, Eugene Czolij noted that the Ukrainian World Congress is also willing to have a fruitful cooperation with current authorities. “We are coming to you with a question – how can the Ukrainian World Congress and the Ukrainian expat community help Ukraine in these times,” he said.
The Head of State highly evaluated the support from the Ukrainian community for the native state in trying times. “In the past few months, we have felt the support of foreign Ukrainians. Euromaidan has united not only Ukraine, but also Ukrainians all over the world,” he noted.
Speaking of the prospects of Ukraine’s development, the President emphasized the necessity of establishing conditions for investors, particularly those from the Ukrainian expat community. He also stressed the importance of accelerating measures aimed at the struggle against corruption. “But the main thing now is peace and preservation of territorial integrity of the state,” Petro Poroshenko claimed.
Also, the Head of State drew attention to the importance of uniting efforts in upholding the interests of Ukraine in the world and conducting a powerful informational work. “It is necessary to create an efficient mechanism of interaction with the global Ukrainian community in this direction,” the President emphasized.
