On August 02, 2018 a Photo Exhibition on the life of the Crimean Tatar people in the occupied Crimea was opened in the San Francisco Public Library
On August 2, 2018, Oleksandr Krotenko, the Consul of the Consulate General of Ukraine in San Francisco, and representatives of the Consular Post participated at the San Francisco Public Library in the opening ceremony of the Photo Exhibition "Abroad", reflecting the life of the Crimean Tatar people in the occupied Crimea.
In particular, during two months in this Library, which received the 2017 Best American Library Award, about 20 photographs of the outstanding Ukrainian photographer of Crimean Tatar origin Emine Ziyatdinova will be posted.
The goal of this event in San Francisco, which a multinational and ethnoconfessional city where the United Nations Charter was signed on June 26, 1945, was to attract the attention of the international community in general and the American community in particular to the brutal and systematic violations of fundamental human rights and freedoms by the Russian occupation authorities in Crimea. In particular, the intention of the Consular Office of Ukraine is to show that multiple violations in the occupied peninsula will not be left unnoticed, and the actions of the occupation authorities are unpunished.
The Consul expressed his gratitude to Michael Lambert, the Acting City Librarian, for the many years of support to the Consulate General of Ukraine for organizing Ukrainian humanitarian, cultural and historical events in San Francisco and for hosting the afore-mentioned Photo Exhibition.
