Today, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Kostyantyn Gryshchenko has begun a three-day official visit to the Republic of Iraq, aiming to restore the Ukrainian-Iraqi political dialogue at the highest level. Before now the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine visited the Republic of Iraq in 2003.

During the meeting the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Speaker of the Council of Representatives of the Republic of Iraq Osama al-Nujafi discussed a broad range of issues of bilateral cooperation, reached agreement in principle to establish regular Ukrainian-Iraqi parliamentary contacts at the highest level.

The Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Iraq on cultural cooperation was signed.

In the framework of the visit, the Ukrainian-Iraqi Business Forum headed by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Kostyantyn Gryshchenko and the Minister of Trade of the Republic of Iraq Khayrallah Babakir has also been held to expand the economic cooperation of both countries. 50 representatives of business circles of Ukraine and the Republic of Iraq participated in this event.

After the meetings the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine gave the interview to Iraqi TV Channel "Al-Irakiya".
