20 March 2025 21:25

During his official visit to India on 17-19 March, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha took part in a number of important international events and negotiations.

One of the key events was the Minister's participation in Raisina Dialogue 2025, Asia's largest security and diplomatic forum in New Delhi. On the sidelines of the forum, the Minister met with the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Bhutan, Ghana, India, Moldova, Nepal, Norway, Sweden, Philippines, Thailand and Hungary, as well as with the National Security Adviser to the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, the President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and the Deputy Speaker of the Portuguese Parliament.

Against the backdrop of the negotiations in Jeddah and the intense diplomacy of recent weeks, it was necessary to convey our messages not only to Europe and North America but also to the broader world, including the Indo-Pacific region. This was one of the key goals of my trip to India,’ the Ukrainian diplomat stressed.

During a major business forum in India's financial capital, Mumbai, which was attended by over 130 Indian companies, Minister Andrii Sybiha, together with his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, inaugurated the new Consulate General of Ukraine in Mumbai. The consulate will ‘facilitate the protection of the rights and interests of our citizens, develop partnerships, and strengthen business contacts’.

During his visit to Mumbai, the Head of Ukraine's diplomatic service also presented the exequatur to the new Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Sri Lanka.

Additionally, Andrii Sybiha held a series of important meetings with major Indian businesses eager to deepen their partnerships with Ukrainian companies. According to the Minister, Indian business circles have shown an exceptionally strong interest in working in Ukraine, developing partnerships, and investing.

The Minister also held a separate meeting with several key opinion leaders from India's expert and media circles. The parties discussed the peace process, Ukraine's position, and its aspiration to achieve a just peace as soon as possible.

‘Based on all the interviews, speeches, and comments, we can see that Ukraine's position was heard and well received in India. I am convinced that this is an important step toward further developing relations with India, the broader Indo-Pacific region, and the Global South as a whole,’ Andrii Sybiha concluded.
