Ukraine Foreign Ministry Statement against recognition of so-called presidential elections in occupied territory of Abkhazia, Georgia
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine ressolutely condemns so-called presidential elections, held under the control of the Russian Federation on August 25, 2019 in the occupied territory of Abkhazia, Georgia.
Ukraine does not recognize these fake "elections" and considers them another provocative attempt by the Russian Federation to legitimize the pro-Russian regime of the occupied Abkhazia, Georgia.
Ukraine invariably supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia within the country's internationally recognized borders and does not recognize the so-called independence of the occupied Abkhazia, Georgia and the Tskhinvali region / South Ossetia, Georgia.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine calls on the Russian Federation to respect and strictly adhere to the rules and principles of international law by revoking the decision to recognize the so-called independence of the self-styled republics of Abkhazia and of South Ossetia.
