The delegations of over 60 countries and international organizations gathered in Kyiv to discuss the issues of consolidation of efforts of the international community towards strengthening the level of nuclear energy safety and prevention of man-caused disasters in the future.
The heads of delegations – the Presidents of Kazakhstan, Poland, Switzerland, Hungary and Croatia, the Prime Ministers of Azerbaijan, Belgium, Lithuania, France, as well as the UN Secretary General, the President of the European Commission, the EBRD President, the IAEA Director General, other high ranking officials delivered their short speeches.
The participants in the Kyiv Summit expressed their belief that realization of efforts in enhancing nuclear safety should further remain a key priority in all activities in the sphere of nuclear energy. In that connection Ukraine stressed that the most optimum way in that direction is the facilitation of international cooperation through innovative use of nuclear energy, which should become the main prerequisite for securing global regime of the nuclear exploitation safety for all countries with no exception.
