The visit opened with bilateral political talks at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway, when the parties discussed topical issues of bilateral concern. The Ukrainian side presented the Instruments of Ratification to the Free Trade Agreement between Ukraine and EFTA and Agreement on agriculture between Ukraine and Norway signed on the 24th of June 2010 in Reykjavik. The Agreements enter into force on the 1st of June 2012. The parties expressed mutual interest in the intensification of the bilateral political dialogue, trade and economic as well as cultural and humanitarian relations.
In the run of the visit to Oslo Deputy Minister P.A.Klimkin delivered a speech at the conference held at the Norwegian Institute of Foreign Affairs on the occasion of 20 years anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Norway. The event united representatives of the Norwegian governmental, business and research circles, cultural agents, journalists and the Ukrainian community.
Possible steps to boost the future cooperation were the key topics for discussions during the meetings held in the Prime Minister’s Office, Minister of Trade and Industry of Norway, Ministry of Oil and Energy of Norway, the Norwegian Storting (parliament) and the Innovation Norway Fund.
Possibilities for the increase in the investment flows were in focus of the separate talks with the Board members of the Norwegian Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce. To summarize the discussions held during the working visit, top priority areas were defined and discussed with the head of the Innovation Norway Fund to boost the investment activities in, being small hydro power, fish and seafood processing, IT and agriculture.
