Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Mr. Leonid Kozhara held a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova Mrs. Natalia Gherman within the framework of the ministerial meeting of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation.
The sides discussed priorities of bilateral cooperation, expressing their readiness to resolve urgent issues on Ukrainian-Moldavian agenda and agreed to take joint efforts aiming at preparation of a number of visits at high level by the end of this year.
Special attention was paid to the interaction between Ukraine and Moldova as regards EU integration of both countries, in particular the preparation of two states to the Eastern Partnership summit to be held in Vilnius in November 2013.
Ministers Kozhara and Gherman also exchanged views on Transnistrian settlement. Acting OSCE Chairperson-in-Office drew attention to the necessity of using all existing possibilities of negotiation process in 5+2 format as well as other forms of direct dialog between the parties for the constructive discussion of existing problems and finding out practical solutions for the benefit of the peoples on the both sides of the Dniester River.
Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration of Moldova Mr. Eugen Karpov, who also attended the meeting, expressed his gratitude to the Ukrainian Chairmanship in OSCE and highly valued Ukraine's efforts on the Transnistrian settlement.
