The OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Foreign Minister of Ukraine Leonid Kozhara welcomed the democratic conduct of the presidential election in Georgia that took place on 27 October 2013.
“I noted with great satisfaction Statement of Preliminary Findings and Conclusions made by the International Election Observation Mission that included the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the European Parliament and the NATO Parliamentary Assembly stating that the presidential election in Georgia was efficiently administered, transparent and took place in an amicable and constructive environment with respect to fundamental freedoms of expression, movement and assembly,” Chairperson-in-Office stated.
“I appreciate the strong determination of the Georgian people and the leaders of the country to meet the international standards for democratic elections, in particular the OSCE and Council of Europe commitments. Election in Georgia marked further progress in the democratic processes and has significantly bolstered the OSCE’s efforts in strengthening regional stability and security,” emphasized Leonid Kozhara.
