The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine strongly condemns the escalation of terrorist activity in the north of Iraq, which poses a serious threat to regional security.

We are deeply concerned by the seizure of the Turkish citizens, including the staff of the Consulate General of Turkey in Mosul, as hostages.

We appeal to all the international community to make immediate coordinated practical steps to prevent the expansion of instability and successfully combat terrorism and extremism.
