On the occasion of the beginning of the presidency of Ukraine in the Commonwealth of Independent States Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Leonid Kozhara meets ambassadors of the CIS member states.
During the meeting the Priorities of the presidency of Ukraine in the CIS, high-priority measures and cooperation between the CIS member states with a view to its implementation were discussed. The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine stated, that the essential functioning will be directed towards the ensuring of continued development of the Commonwealth and strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation.
L. Kozhara made a particular emphasis on the economic component of cooperation within the framework of Presidency of Ukraine in CIS, especially on the preparation of draft agreements on pipeline transport transit, free trade in services, gradual abolition of export duties.
Under its Presidency Ukraine pays special attention to the development of cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
The year of the Presidency of Ukraine in CIS coincides with such outstanding events as celebration of 200th anniversary from the birth of T.G. Shevchenko and 70th anniversary of the liberation of Ukraine from Nazi invaders. Due the year 2014 was declared the Year of Tourism in Commonwealth holding of the Kiev international tourism forum and the Council of tourism of CIS is scheduled.
Heads of diplomatic missions of CIS member states expressed confidence in the success of the Ukrainian Presidency and assure to support its priorities.
