Acting Foreign Minister Andrii Deshchytsia informed OSCE Chairman in Office on the situation in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, in particular in the context of illegal military presence of the Russian Federation, as well as on steps undertaken by the Ukrainian authorities for its peaceful and diplomatic settlement.
He stressed upon the importance of immediate OSCE reaction on rapidly developing events.
D.Burkhlater has confirmed that planned visits to Ukraine of Ambassador T.Guldimann, Special Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office for Ukraine, as well as of the OSCE High Commissioner for National Minorities Ms. A.Tors and OSCE Representative for the Freedom of Media Ms.D.Mijatovic will take place over the next days. He has also informed that on 3 March, 2014 an extraordinary meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council is convened to discuss the situation in Ukraine.
It was agreed to keep maintaining a close contact.
