The ministers paid special attention to the internal situation in Ukraine particularly in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
H.E. Mr. Titus Corlatean reiterated Romania’s unwavering support for the national sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine. He condemned illegal actions of the Russian Federation on the territory of our country.
The sides also discussed key issues of bilateral cooperation. It was agreed to carry on Ukrainian-Romanian dialog on protection of national minorities and to speed up the preparation for signing the bilateral Agreement on local border traffic. H.E. Mr. Andrii Deshchytsia emphasized a resolute objective of the Government of Ukraine to take all necessary measures to fully guarantee the rights of national minorities living in Ukraine according to the European practice and standards.
The Romanian Foreign Minister stressed on the sovereign right of the Ukrainian people to determinate geopolitical direction of their country. He also expressed readiness to provide all necessary support in the implementation of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union after its signing, which should take place in the near future.
As a result of negotiations H.E. Mr. Andrii Deshchytsia and H.E. Mr. Titus Corlatean signed the Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of Romania on confidence and security building measures aimed at consolidating peace and security in the region.
