March 18, 2014. Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Deshchytsia held telephone talks with Foreign Minister of Australia Julie Bishop.
Andrii Deshchytsia expressed gratitude for Australia’s support of the resolution on the so-called “referendum” in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea during the voting in the UN Security Council held on March 15, 2014.
Acting Minister emphasized that the country’s leadership highly appreciated the position of the Australian government to preserve the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
In her turn, J.Bishop confirmed Australian side’s continuous support of fundamental principles of international law, having assured the readiness to remain an active participant of the international process in finding ways of resolving "the Crimea issue” within the UN and the OSCE frameworks. Australian side also underlined that it considers the possibilities of response to the forcible actions of Russia towards Ukraine at bilateral level.
