The main attention was paid to the issues of Turkish political support in the context of resolving the critical situation around Russia's annexation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea by diplomatic means.
Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Turkey Ali Kemal Aydın emphasized that the Republic of Turkey, as a strategic partner of Ukraine, implicitly supports the territorial integrity, the inviolability of internationally recognized borders and the unity of Ukraine. He also confirmed the readiness of official Ankara to intensify joint efforts with Ukraine at bilateral and multilateral levels for peaceful settlement of the dramatic situation in Crimea.
Deputy Foreign Minister Danylo Lubkivsky noted that the aggressive actions of Russia not only threaten the territorial integrity of Ukraine, but also became an unprecedented challenge to the international rule of law.
The ways of providing protection and practical assistance to the citizens of Ukraine, who became hostages of the Russian aggressive actions in Crimea, in particular numerous representatives of the Crimean Tatar community, were discussed during the conversation.
The counterparts touched upon also specific actual issues of the bilateral agenda and agreed to take measures in order to deepen the strategic partnership between Ukraine and the Republic of Turkey.
