On March, 20th political consultations between Ukraine and the Republic of Slovenia at the level of Deputy Foreign Ministers were held in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. The Ukrainian side was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Danylo Lubkivsky, the Slovenian - by the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Igor Senchar.
The two sides paid attention to the political situation in Ukraine. Igor Senchar expressed unconditional support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine and informed that Slovenia does not recognize the legitimacy of the so-called “referendum” and condemns the annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation.
Igor Senchar also expressed the willingness of the officials in Ljubljana to provide maximum support, for a peaceful settlement of the situation, surrounding the Russian aggression in Crimea.
He also noted that the Slovenian side was ready to support Ukraine in the process of future reforms. During the consultation, particular attention was paid to steps undertaken by Ukraine towards European integration. Igor Senchar expressed his conviction that signing of the political part of the Association Agreement on March 21st is not the last step in the developments between Ukraine and the EU. The two sides outlined concrete ways of cooperation between Ukraine and the Republic of Slovenia on this particular path.
The parties also agreed to take steps towards deepening their bilateral cooperation. Igor Senchar invited Danylo Lubkivsky to visit Ljubljana for continuing fruitful dialogue.
