During the meeting the parties discussed the possibility to resort to OSCE High Commissioner’s tools and expertise for monitoring compliance with minority’s rights in Ukraine and in Crimea in particular, in view of the occupation of the peninsula by military units of the Russian Federation.
A.Tors informed on numerous appeals to her by national minorities living in the Crimean peninsula, who claim their rights are violated by self-proclaimed authorities of Crimea. In this regard, the HCNM expressed concern about the possible exodus of refugees from Crimea to other regions of Ukraine.
Ukrainian side expressed interest in further involvement of the HCNM to resolve the crisis provoked by the intervention of Russia in Crimea.
