On 9 April 2014, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Sergiy Kyslytsya received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Australia to Ukraine (with residence in Warsaw) Jean Margaret Dunn
The parties discussed current state and prospects of development of Ukrainian-Australian relations. In this context counterparts underlined the necessity of maintaining regular political dialogue as well as intensifying trade and economic cooperation between Ukraine and Australia.
Sergiy Kyslytsya expressed his gratitude to the Government of Australia for the attention to developments in our country as well as for the strong support of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, especially at the meetings of the United Nations’ Security Council and the General Assembly.
It was also stressed that the Ukrainian Side considers the Australian Government’s decision to impose targeted financial sanctions and travel bans against individuals involved in the decision-taking process jeopardizing the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine as an important practical step to react on Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine.
In her turn, Ambassador of Australia reiterated that the official Canberra’s position on support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity remains unchanged.
