During the meeting they discussed the situation in Ukraine, particularly in the context of military aggression by the Russian Federation, as well as the opportunities of assistance from the European Union to the de-escalation of the situation.

The sides also exchanged views on the steps of Ukrainian authorities needed to ensure transparent and democratic presidential election in Ukraine, scheduled for May 25, with the widest possible involvement of international observers.
