On 14 April 2014 Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Deshchytsia met with OSCE Chairperson, Head of Switzerland's Federal Department of Foreign Affairs Didier Burkhalter who is on a one day working visit to Ukraine.
During the meeting the two sides discussed the OSCE engagement in resolving the current situation in and around Ukraine in light of recent events, as well as issues of utilizing OSCE expertise and tools in providing assistance to the Ukrainian side in implementation of a constitutional reform and a local governance reform.
The Ukrainian side expressed its appreciation to the Swiss OSCE Chairmanship for supporting Ukraine’s efforts to resolve a current crisis, as well as for establishing the OSCE special monitoring mission to Ukraine. The two sides exchanged views on the implementation of the proposals and recommendations prepared in the framework of the OSCE National Dialogue Project, which was carried out in Ukraine over the last month.
Acting Minister Andrii Deshchytsia briefed his counterpart on the status of the preparation to the four-lateral negotiations planned to be held in Geneva between Ukraine, EU, USA and the Russian Federation. Didier Burkhalter expressed his readiness to provide all necessary assistance to Ukraine in finding resolution to the current crisis both within the OSCE and on the bilateral level.
