On May 22, 2014 Acting Foreign Minister of Ukraine Andrii Deshchytsia had a meeting with the heads of diplomatic missions of foreign states and international organizations in Ukraine and the heads of international missions to observe the presidential elections in Ukraine. The meeting was also attended by Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Ukraine Mykhaylo Okhendovsky.
Participants were informed about the preparations for early presidential elections in Ukraine. "Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and other relevant authorities provide an extensive support to official observers from foreign states and international organizations", - stated Foreign Minister A.Deshchytsia. Minister informed that for this purpose special working group was established and special 24-hours hot line was opened within the Ministry to address all questions observers might have in performing their mission.
Participants agreed that broad representation of international observers (2784 persons) confirms the great importance attached by the international community to presidential election in Ukraine.
Special attention was paid to the security aspect of the elections, including security of the international observers.
Participants could note that despite difficult situation in some regions of the country, Ukrainian side is committed to hold free, transparent and democratic elections in full accordance with international standards.
