The Ukrainian Delegation was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Mr. Pavlo Klimkin, the US Delegation - by Assistant Secretary of State Ms. Janice Jacobs.

The delegations discussed the current status and the prospects for further development of the Ukraine-US cooperation in the consular sphere, including the implementation of the legal bilateral agreements, protection of rights and interests of both countries’ citizens, international adoption, etc.

In the context of further liberalization of visa regime and fostering people-to- people contacts, the delegations agreed to increase the period of visas validity from five to ten years for certain categories of citizens of Ukraine and the United States. This decision will be finalized soon.

The Sides agreed to establish cooperation between the Consular Services of both Ukraine and the United States during the preparation for Euro-2012 in Ukraine.

The Ukraine-US talks were held in a friendly and constructive atmosphere, and will contribute to further development of bilateral dialog on consular issues.
