On September 1, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway Børge Brende and Minister for Europe Vidar Helgesen, who are on a working visit to Ukraine.
Pavlo Klimkin expressed gratitude for the strong support by Norway for sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and informed the Norwegian side on the recent developments in the East of Ukraine in the context of ongoing aggression of the Russian Federation. Special attention was paid to the steps of Ukraine’s government aimed at stabilizing the economic situation and the implementation of reforms.
Børge Brende confirmed solidarity of Norway with Ukraine and stressed on its readiness to provide further support for reforms in our country. In this context, financial assistance to Ukraine was announced to be increased four times (to $25.5 mln.) in addition to humanitarian aid to overcome the consequences of activities of terrorist groups in eastern Ukraine.
The sides discussed urgent issues of bilateral agenda in political, trade and economic spheres. The visit of Prime Minister of Norway E.Solberh to Ukraine scheduled for November this year was noted as pivotal for further deepening cooperation between the two countries.
