The 15th meeting of the National Commission of Ukraine for UNESCO took place on September 18, 2014 in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
The main attention was paid to the vision of the role of UNESCO in the context of the new challenges and threats, as well as the possible contribution of Ukraine to the development and strengthening of partnerships within the organization.
A certain discussed item on the agenda was that of the consequences of Russian aggression and protection of the national cultural heritage in the Crimea and preparing updated information on the situation in the Crimea carried out by central executive bodies in order to inform the Secretariat of UNESCO.
Also the state of the protection and preservation of the Ukrainian objects included in the UNESCO World Heritage List and definition of priorities of the National Commission in the light of program objectives of UNESCO was discussed.
The discussion also stressed the need to intensify work to popularize Ukrainian monuments of history and culture in the world, particularly through their inclusion in the World Heritage List and the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
