Visegrad Group agreed to cooperate in reforming local government in Ukraine, developing civil society and promoting interaction between public authorities and civil society

The meeting in the format "Visegrad Group + Ukraine" at the level of deputy foreign ministers of V4 countries (Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary) and Ukraine was held in Lviv. The Ukrainian delegation was headed by the First Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Natalia Galibarenko. 

The meeting’s focus was on the prospects of practical cooperation between Ukraine and the Visegrad Group in pushing European integration reforms as well as V4’ assistance to our country in implementation of the Association Agreement.

Our partners also emphasized their readiness to assist Ukraine in developing civil society, ensuring effective cooperation between the government and civil society, conducting local government reforms.

Special attention was paid to energy efficiency and energy security in the region.

The Ukrainian side confirmed its interest in cooperation with the International Visegrad Fund in science and education, particularly providing scholarships for Ukrainian students and funding projects on building up local government.

Participants of the "Visegrad Group + Ukraine" meeting agreed to continue active dialogue on priority issues of regional cooperation, particularly at the experts level.
