On 24th May in Astana, Kazakhstan, the informal meeting of the participants in the negotiating process on the Transnistrian Settlement in “5+2” format took place (Moldova, Transnistria – Sides to the conflict, Ukraine and Russia – Guarantors-Mediators, OSCE – Mediator, EU and US – Observers). The meeting took place under the auspices of the Kazakhstan’s OSCE Chairmanship. The Ukrainian delegation at the meeting was headed by the Director of the 4th Territorial Department of the MFA of Ukraine Mr.O.Mischenko.
During the meeting all the partners gave positive estimations of the Joint Statement of the Presidents of Ukraine and Russia on the Transnistrian Settlement dated from 17th May, 2010, and urged the Sides to continue their dialogue and work towards renewing official talks on a comprehensive political solution to the Transnistrian conflict.
Kazakhstan’s OSCE Chairmanship in its press-release published after the meeting expressed its support to the main signals contained in the Kyiv Document.
