April 20, in the framework of his visit to Luxembourg to attend Eastern Partnership ministerial meeting Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin held a series of bilateral meetings with Foreign Ministers of Spain - José Manuel García-Margallo, Latvia - Edgars Rinkēvičs, Slovakia - Miroslav Lajčák, Czech Republic - Lubomír Zaorálek and Hungary - Péter Szijjártó.
The parties discussed a wide range of bilateral issues and ways of stabilizing the situation in the Donbas. Pavlo Klimkin thanked for the consistent support of the EU Member states of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine and stressed that only complete and comprehensive implementation of all provisions of the Minsk agreements would contribute to sustainable peace in the Donbas.
The Foreign Minister of Ukraine noted the need for deployment in eastern Ukraine the international mission in support of the implementation of Minsk agreements, which would be an additional tool for stabilizing the security situation in the region.
The Minister also informed his colleagues on the main results of internal reforms in Ukraine, especially in the context of the fight against corruption, constitutional reform, decentralization. In this regard P.Klimkin highlighted the importance of holding in particular areas of Donetsk and Lugansk regions the local elections in accordance with international standards, the primary condition for what should be a ceasefire, withdrawal of the heavy weapons, providing access for the OSCE representatives and the release of all hostages.
During these meetings Foreign Minister of Ukraine drew the attention to the need to preserve European and transatlantic unity for continuing pressure on Russia to fully implement the Minsk agreements.
