Comments of the MFA of Ukraine on the adoption by the Human Rights Council of the resolution "Cooperation and Assistance to Ukraine in the Field of Human Rights"
Ukraine welcomes the adoption on 3 July 2015 by the Human Rights Council (HRC) of the resolution "Cooperation and Assistance to Ukraine in the Field of Human Rights." From now on, the most reputable international human rights institution will regularly hear the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights on the findings of each periodic report of the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission on the situation in Ukraine, including on the temporarily occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, and in Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine.
By adoption of the resolution, the HRC once again confirmed the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders.
The resolution initiated by our country was adopted despite the downright opposition of Russia. By voting against it, Russia obviously did not want that all countries around the world could learn the truth about the systematic and widespread violations of human rights on the occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Donbas, about Russia-created gray zone of arbitrariness and impunity.
Text of the resolution in Ukrainian and English.
