John Debono confirmed consistent stance of Malta on non-recognition of illegal annexation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and stressed that Malta is at the forefront of international support for Ukraine.
He stated that the EU is united in support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine and expressed hope that "the peaceful nature of the Ukrainian nation would get over all the challenges." For her part N.Galibarenko stressed that Ukraine is committed to the implementation of Minsk agreements and settlement of the conflict through diplomatic way.
N.Galibarenko stated that Ukraine highly appreciates the fact that Malta was among the first EU member states that ratified the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU. In this context, Ambassador confirmed the readiness of Malta to share its own experience to conduct accession talks with the EU. He also supported the prospects to introduce visa-free regime between Ukraine and the EU.
Interlocutors also welcomed the launch in June of direct flight connection between Ukraine and Malta and discussed the perspective directions of bilateral cooperation, including the expanding of legal framework.
