On February 12, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko met with Ambassador of the United States in Ukraine John F. Tefft.
Ambassador Tefft congratulated Ukrainians on the successful completion of the election campaign. American diplomat emphasized that the recognition by the world community of the presidential elections as free and transparent reconfirmed Ukraine’s establishment as a democratic state and helped to enhance its international reputation. J.Tefft underlined that this was the message delivered by the President of the United States Barrack Obama to Ukraine’s President-elect Victor Yanukovych during their telephone conversation on February 11, 2010.
During the meeting J.Tefft passed a letter from B.Obama to Ukraine’s Head of State with an invitation to take part in the Nuclear Security Summit in Washington on April 12-13.
The Parties have also discussed the issues related to strengthening the international nonproliferation regime.
