In frames of a working visit to Denmark Pavlo Klimkin held talks with Minister for Foreign Affairs and Development of Denmark Kristian Jensen.
Minsk agreements implementation progress was on top of the agenda of bilateral talks. Kristian Jensen reconfirmed Danish stance on the necessity of political resolution of the situation in Donbas and pointed out that the Russian side should bear the responsibility for the broad ceasefire as well as for the release of Ukrainian political prisoners.
In the course of the talks, ministers exchanged their views on the bilateral political dialogue in 2016, which could be intensified with high level visits, in particular the first in the history of diplomatic relations official visit of the Danish Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen to Ukraine. Both sides have agreed that active political dialogue would invigorate the bilateral trade turnover and investments.
Kristian Jensen highly evaluated reforms in Ukraine and consistent cooperation of the Government of Ukraine with international financial organizations, which allows, among other, further planning of the Danish funds’ investment activities in Ukraine as well as wider technical assistance cooperation around reforms.
Within discussions around the bilateral legal base the Danish side confirmed the finalization of legal procedures necessary to enact the intergovernmental Agreement on amendments to the Visa Facilitation Agreement.
After the meeting both ministers participated in the press-conference for the Danish press in the premises of the Confederation of Danish Industry (DI).
