Since today, the portraits of Ukrainians illegally arrested and convicted in Russia, are installed in the hallway near the negotiations rooms at the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
This project became the next level of cooperation between the MFA and the Ukrainian Human Rights Group "Euromaidan SOS" within the framework of the #LetMyPeopleGo campaign. Its goal is to draw attention of our international partners to the problems of Ukrainian political prisoners in Russia. While walking to the meeting rooms, foreign visitors will see portraits and the names of Nadiya Savchenko, Oleg Sentsov, Alexander Kolchenko, Oleksiy Chyrniy, Gennadiy Afanasyev, Mykola Karpyuk, Stanislav Klykh, Sergiy Lytvinov, Valentyn Vyhivsky and Yuriy Soloshenko.
Ambassador at Large Dmytro Kuleba said in this regard: "We have organized the space in such a way that entering the Foreign Ministry, official foreign guests always see a reminder of our political prisoners in Russia. This is our message to them that we can not forget about Ukrainian citizens and need to cooperate in order to release them. First they see the director's chair of Oleg Sentsov and then the portraits of all our political prisoners. It's not just symbolism, it’s public diplomacy in action".
On October 27 the film director’s chair of Oleg Sentsov was installed in the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine, symbolizing that he has to sit not on a bench in a Russian prison, but on the director's chair making movies.
