On December 14, delegation of Ukraine headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergiy Kyslytsya started its visit to the US to held bilateral political consultations (December 15) on Ukraine – US cooperation in the UN Security Council during our state’s non-permanent membership of the Council in 2016-2017, as well as cooperation within other international organizations.
The consultations were preceded by the meeting with John A. Heffern, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary, Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs. Current issues and perspectives of Ukraine – US cooperation in the context of Ukraine’s future membership of the Council, as well as cooperation within OSCE and UNESCO were discussed. The parties acknowledged common approach on key international agenda issues, primarily related to the ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine, and agreed to continue close interaction and coordination of approaches at the main international fora.
Meeting with Julie H. Nutter, Director of the Office of Economic Sanctions Policy and Implementation, Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs, was held on the same day.
