On February 24, 2016 Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin held talks in Budapest with Deputy Prime Minister of Hungary Zsolt Semjén and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Péter Szijjártó.
The parties discussed the situation in Donbas, implementation of the Minsk agreements, Ukraine`s progress in implementing domestic reforms, strengthening of the bilateral cooperation, in particular within the international organizations, as well as further political contacts.
Pavlo Klimkin stressed the importance of unity within the EU on sanctions against Russia until Moscow would fully implement its Minsk obligations. Peter Szijjártó underlined that undeviating implementation of Minsk agreements was of key importance.
The Hungarian side reaffirmed its readiness to provide in 2016 medical treatment and rehabilitation to another 20 wounded Ukrainian soldiers as well as host 700 Ukrainian children, whose parents had been wounded or killed during the ATO.
At the joint press conference Pavlo Klimkin thanked for a Hungary`s strong stance in supporting territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, introduction of visa free regime with the EU and for the provided humanitarian assistance.
During the visit the Educational Exchange Programme between the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Ministry of Human Capacities of Hungary for 2016-2018 was signed.
Minister P.Klimkin also gave an interview to the Hungarian newspaper “Népszabadság” and met with representatives of NGOs.
