On March 18 within the framework of his visit to the EU institutions Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin met with EU Commissioner for the ENP and enlargement negotiations Johannes Hahn.
The parties discussed the state of implementation of the Minsk agreements, situation in the east of Ukraine, the prospects for visa-free regime between Ukraine and EU, key priorities of the Ukrainian authorities in the implementation of reforms in the near future, as well as the EU support for the implementation of reform of the civil service.
P.Klimkin and J.Hahn exchanged views on the first results of the implementation of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area between Ukraine and the EU, as well as possible additional measures to maximize the effect of its operation.
Special attention was paid to the situation around the temporary occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol by Russia and the need to release illegally detained Ukrainian citizens in Russia and in Crimea, including Nadiya Savchenko.
