Ukrainian-Italian political consultations co-chaired by Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Mrs. Olena Zerkal and Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Italian Republic Mr. Vincenzo Amendola, as well as meetings in the Office of the President of Italy, the Parliament and the Interior Ministry were held on the 20th of April in Rome.

Olena Zerkal praised the consistent Italian support of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. Vincenzo Amendola confirmed unchangeable position of the Italian side to continue sanctions against Russia until it full implementation of the Minsk agreements.

Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine stressed the importance of further support of Ukraine by Italy in implementation of reforms, the Association Agreement with the EU, as well as the liberalization of the EU visa regime for Ukrainian citizens.

The parties agreed to exchange experience in the areas of combating corruption, taking into account reform of the national anti-corruption body in Italy in 2014, setting up an efficient judicial system and constitutional reform that is currently ongoing in Ukraine and Italy.

Parties called for intensification of contacts in the energy, agricultural, space and other areas of mutual interest.
