On April 28, 2016 in the framework of the visit to China Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin took part in the 5th regular CICA Foreign Ministers’ Meeting of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia under the Presidency of Minister of Foreign Affairs of China Wang Yi.
In his speech Pavlo Klimkin emphasized existence of numerous threats and challenges to current international security system like international terrorism, the so-called “hybrid wars”, regional conflicts etc. A special attention was paid to the implementation of the Minsk Аgreements, the prospects of stabilization of the security situation in Donbas and Russia’s role in this process.
Ukrainian Minister briefly presented the position of Ukraine concerning fighting the ISIS, Syrian conflict, relations between Israel and Palestine, situation on the Korean peninsula.
An emphasis was made on the necessity of the UN Security Council’s reform for enhancing its effectiveness in facing modern threats and challenges to global security.
Pavlo Klimkin also stressed Ukraine’s interest in expanding of cooperation with Asian countries on a bilateral and multilateral basis as a valuable contribution to security and prosperity of this region.
