On May 4 Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin took part in the Visegrad Group+Eastern Partnership (EaP) Ministerial Meeting in Prague, organized by the V4 Czech Presidency. The EU side was represented by European Commissioner on European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn and Deputy Secretary General of the European Service of External Action Helga Schmid.
Implementation of commitments approved by EaP Riga summit in 2015 was main focus of attention at the meeting. Participants discussed current needs and expectations of EaP countries of further implementation of this programme. The sides also exchanged opinions on actual situation in the Eastern Europe.
In his plenary session speech Minister Pavlo Klimkin emphasized the importance of DCFTA implementation and introduction of EU visa-free regime for Ukraine and Georgia this summer.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine mentioned numerous challenges and threats to the international security system, such as international terrorism, hybrid warfare, and regional conflicts. Special attention was paid to the issue of the Minsk agreements implementation, prospects of security stabilization in Donbas and the role of Russia in this process.
During his visit to Czech Republic P.Klimkin held a number of bilateral talks with his foreign counterparts.
