On May 25, the 2nd round of Ukraine-Nigeria political consultations was held in the city of Abuja.
The Ukrainian delegation was headed by Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Mr. Sergiy Kyslytsya. The Nigerian Side was represented by State Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Mrs. Khadija Bukar Abba Ibrahim. The Nigerian delegation included representatives of the ministries of education, defence, solid minerals, industry, trade and investments.
During the consultations, the sides discussed the issues of intensification of political dialogue at the highest level, expansion of cooperation in trade and economic spheres as well as cooperation within the UN, particularly, in the context of Ukraine’s membership in the UN Security Council.
The sides also exchanged views on the situation in Ukraine and in the West African region.
The Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Mr. Sergiy Kyslytsya expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Side for support of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, in particular, within the framework of the United Nations.
Following the talks, the sides defined priority areas of bilateral cooperation, in particular, development of industrial capacity and infrastructure as well as education and renewable energy projects.
