During the meeting, Deputy Minister Sergiy Kyslytsya emphasized the interest and willingness of Ukraine to establish full cooperation with this regional organization. He also noted that Ukraine is now studying the possibility of launching negotiations on prospects of a free trade area between Ukraine and ECOWAS.

Marcel Alain De Souza stressed the importance of Ukraine as a partner for the countries of ECOWAS, welcomed the idea of establishing FTA and emphasized the interest of developing relations with Ukraine.

President of the ECOWAS Commission welcomed the release of Nadiya Savchenko from the Russian captivity, stressing that she is a symbol of struggle for freedom.

The parties also discussed the promising directions of Ukraine's cooperation with ECOWAS, in particular, in the areas of agriculture, implementation of infrastructure projects, and peace-keeping activity on the African continent.
