During the meeting with participation of the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine (UNHRMMU) Fiona Frazer the sides discussed the state of cooperation between Ukraine and the UN on broad agenda of issues related to human rights. Particular attention was paid to the problems with respect to human rights caused by Russian aggression in eastern Ukraine and Crimea. As it is known, UNHRMMU, which has been working in our country on invitation of the Government of Ukraine since 2014, has produced 13 reports on the human rights situation in Ukraine and is now finalizing the preparation of the 14th consecutive document. During the meeting, the Ukrainian side also expressed its insistence on the necessity of paying more attention on behalf of the UN to the problem of human rights violations in Autonomous Republic of Crimea, occupied by Russia, and demand the opening of the peninsula by the occupying authorities to monitoring by international organizations in the framework of institutional and conventional mechanisms based on legal standards.
