The sides discussed practical aspects and possible areas of technical assistance to Ukraine from the EU in combating violence against women, including domestic violence, sexual violence in the context of armed conflict and violence against women - internally displaced persons. The cooperation on the implementation in Ukraine of the provisions of the landmark Security Council resolution 1325 "Women, Peace and Security", primarily in terms of fulfilment of the relevant National action plan from the European integration perspective, was also discussed.
Sergiy Kyslytsya, in his capacity as the Chair of the Council of Europe’s Gender Equality Committee, invited the EEAS Principal Advisor to participate in one of the Committee’s meetings, which would facilitate more effective cooperation between the two European institutions in gender dimension. The invitation was accepted with gratitude.
The meeting was held in Geneva in the framework of Sergiy Kyslytsya’s and Mara Marinaki’s participation in the 32nd session of the UN Human Rights Council.
