Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Kostyantyn Gryshschenko has met with NATO Parliamentary Assembly President, Karl A. Lamers who is on a visit to Ukraine at the invitation of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn.
During the meeting, the NATO representative has said there is fruitful cooperation between Ukraine and NATO, in particular that at the inter-parliamentary level, and expressed gratitude to Ukraine for its contributions into the operational capability of NATO.
The sides have exchanged views on recent developments in Ukraine, including the court trials of the members of the previous Government of Ukraine. The NATO party has been informed comprehensively on the situation surrounding the convicted former members of the Government. The Ukrainian side has stressed that all the issues in these cases should be resolved exclusively in accordance with the Ukrainian legislation respecting the rule of law.
The sides have expressed their shared view that constructive cooperation between Ukraine and NATO should continue.
