Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine expresses its strong protest against the ongoing cynical judicial lynching of Ukrainian citizen Nadiya Savchenko in the Russian Federation.

Constant demonstrative disregard of the basic procedural rules by the so-called Russian justice evokes particular indignation. Rights of Nadiya Savchenko are systematically violated: court refuses to examine official documents obtained from Ukraine by the defense, refuses to call witnesses indicated by the defense, rejects the requests to attach materials of the defense to the case - such as transcripts of interrogation of witnesses, investigative files on the fact of kidnapping the Ukrainian citizen, expertise of the video files which contain indisputable proof of her innocence

The Russian Federation continues to ignore immunity of Nadiya Savchenko as a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and thus openly violates its obligations, confirming a political, not legal nature of the case against the member of the Parliament of Ukraine Nadiya Savchenko.

Significant deterioration of the health of Nadiya Savchenko, due to her constrained hunger strike in protest against the tyranny of the so-called Russian justice and the lack of adequate health care and poor conditions of detention is of special concern. In such circumstances the responsibility for the health and life of Nadiya Savchenko rests with the authorities of the Russian Federation.

We demand from the Russian Federation to stop the persecution of Nadiya Savchenko and other illegally detained citizens of Ukraine - Russian political prisoners, to release them immediately and ensure their return to Ukraine.
