On 24 October 2016, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Sergiy Kyslytsya received UICEF Regional Director for Central and Eastern Europe and the CIS Marie-Pierre Poirier.
Sergiy Kyslytsya commended UNICEF` efforts, aimed at strengthening institutional capacity to promote and protect the rights of all children in Ukraine, particularly its important role in providing lifesaving supplies and basic services to children in need in the east of the country.
The sides discussed the relevant issues of Ukraine-UNICEF cooperation, particularly procurement of quality health commodities and vaccines, reaching children, including internally displaced persons and those, affected by the on-going conflict in the east of Ukraine, with socio-psychological support.
In 2015 UNICEF has spent some US$ 30 million to address the humanitarian needs of about 580,000 children in the war-affected eastern regions of Ukraine.
