Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine expresses its indignation over the deliberate delay by the Supreme Court of the Chechen Republic of the Russian Federation of the consideration of the trumped-up case against illegally detained citizens of Ukraine Mykola Karpyuk and Stanislav Klykh.
This time the trial against Mykola Karpyuk and Stanislav Klykh was suddenly postponed because of "urgent" disease of the judge presiding the jury. The date of the next meeting remains uncertain.
We express our strong protest over the denial of access to the courtroom of witnesses from Ukraine, representatives of the media, volunteers and relatives of the defendants, who, accompanied by diplomats of the Consulate General of Ukraine in Rostov-on-Don, arrived to attend the hearing.
We regard these actions of the Russian side, together with systematic denial of access of Ukrainian consular officer to Mykola Karpyuk and Stanislav Klykh as legal arbitrariness, resulting in gross violation of rights of illegally detained citizens of Ukraine to liberty and security as well as to fair trial.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine demands from the Russian side to remove existing obstacles to the visits of Ukrainian consular officers to illegally detained Mykola Karpyuk and Stanislav Klykh and stop legal lynching of the citizens of Ukraine.
