On 29 November 2016 at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant took place the high level events dedicated to completing of the installation of the New Safe Confinement (Arch) over the destroyed Chernobyl’s reactor 4.
This event has evidenced the successful implementation by the international community of the large-scale project in the field of radiation safety and transformation of the site into an ecologically safe system.
The event was attended by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, the representatives of the relevant ministries of Ukraine, donor-countries to the Chernobyl Shelter Fund and the Nuclear Safety Account, diplomatic missions and international organizations in Ukraine.
The new shelter is a unique construction, which combines the efforts of Ukraine and 28 countries-donors who raised over 1 billion 417 million euros.
The project involved 10 thousand workers from various countries. A total of 40 countries took part in the construction.
