Ukraine took note of the approval of European Parliament Resolution on the situation in Ukraine and appreciate the consistent position of the EU legislature on a number of critical issues.
In particular, the recognition of the European perspective of Ukraine and the reference in this context to the article 49 of the Treaty of Lisbon on the right of every European country to apply for membership in the EU. We appreciate the consistent position of the European Parliament for recognition of Ukraine's European aspirations and agree that it is in the interests of both Ukraine and the EU.
Ukraine welcomes European Parliament appeals to the Council of Europe and the European Commission regarding the completion of negotiations on an Association Agreement EU - Ukraine, it initialed by the end of the year in the context of preparation of the next Ukraine - EU Summit. Ukraine as well as the European Parliament welcomes in this regard the successful completion of negotiations a deep and comprehensive free trade area between EU - Ukraine.
Ukraine took into account the critical elements of the resolution. They will be considered in the implementation of the President of Ukraine proclaimed systemic reforms based on democratic principles and rule of law. Adherence to democratic standards, rule of law and independence of the judiciary are fundamental principles of the internal development of Ukraine.
We are ready to continue and intensify the dialogue with the EU on all issues on the agenda of our relations. Resolution adopted at a time when negotiations on an Association Agreement EU - Ukraine entered the homestretch. Association Agreement and the FTA EU - Ukraine are beneficial both for Ukraine and the EU. Resolution of the European Parliament is an important signal for the negotiating teams on the need to intensify the search for mutually acceptable compromises and conclude negotiations shortly.
